TicWatch E3 Review: Our Thoughts & Predictions

By Sutheshna Mani. Updated: Aug 25, 2021

When Mobvoi delivered the TicWatch GTH to China at the beginning of the year, it wasn’t expected to release so soon! However, the TicWatch E3 is likely to be unveiled soon, and it’s got everyone talking! Check out what we know about the newest device and what you can expect.

Mobvoi TicWatch E3

What We Know About the Design of the TicWatch E3

We’ve been waiting patiently for two years to upgrade the E2, especially with advances in wearable tech. The E3 isn’t shared with the world yet, so the details of the design are unknown.

Currently, we know that it comes with a round face and looks slimmer than the E2 model. Plus, there are two buttons for navigating the watch rather than the one-button version on the E2. There’s limited information but the E3 looks to be a far more sophisticated watch than its predecessor. We expect it to appeal to a price-conscious market while looking like a high-end timepiece.

Which Operating System Will the TicWatch E3 Offer?

As we do not have access to any official news on the watch, the operating system remains a mystery. However, we are pretty sure that Mobvoi will stay loyal and offer the Wear OS for this model too. This is not really a big shock; the Wear OS provides the functionality a budget watch like this will need.

There don’t appear to be new releases in line for Wear OS, which means the watch could fade away. The good news is that we might see Google release a range of updates if there is enough demand.

What Other Specs Can We Expect from the New TicWatch E3?

Potential features on the E3 are an upgraded processor and skin temperature sensors, as people learn how to navigate COVID-19.

The other things we can safely assume are the standard features that come with the E2. This means a heart rate sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, and more. It is also waterproof with a 5 ATM level and can proactively track a wide range of sports. The built-in GPS is another aspect we think is the same on the new E3!

Will the New TicWatch E3 Offer a Better Battery Life?

The current E2 model has a maximum of two days before it re-charges. This is an area many consumers are demanding improvements in, especially as the watches offer GPS, which can be a real drain on battery life.

Therefore we are pretty hopeful that the new device will upgrade the 415 mAh battery and deliver something that can last all week with GPS usage while exercising. If you need regular charging, then there is an expectation that charging this new device will need to be speedy! Failing to improve on this aspect could result in consumer disappointment, something Mobvoi is keen to avoid.

Is it Worth Upgrading to the New TicWatch E3?

It is hard to say whether the new TicWatch E3 will be worth your investment until we know much more about what is on offer and how well it works. However, if you have loved your TicWatch E2 and are keen to stay with Wear OS, then we are pretty confident that this new device will be relevant to you.

Upgraded features, a sleek new design, and a commitment to providing the best value for money will impress the TicWatch lovers. The only doubt in our mind is whether Mobvoi can interest any new customers with their latest smartwatch – watch this space and find out more when further details release!
