Amazfit T-REX Review

Amazfit T-Rex

The Amazfit T-Rex is a smartwatch with lots of military-grade features and an outstanding battery. Launched recently, its Chinese makers are proud of its capabilities as well as its low price. There are loads of fitness features and the smartwatch comes with a huge amount of possibilities for tracking every aspect of your life.

If you are considering purchasing an Amazfit T-Rex it would be worth taking some time to read our review.

Who is the Amazfit T-Rex Made For?

The Amazfit T-Rex is aimed at consumers who want a smartwatch that can track a myriad of things whilst enjoying long battery life. It is a budget range smartwatch but still gives access to some of the latest tech.

The great thing is that the smartwatch comes with all the features that we have come to expect; it is water-resistant, has GPS and boasts extensive fitness tracking. It has a simple design with both a touchscreen and navigation buttons. This smartwatch is real competition and we think it will go a long way.

Does the Amazfit T-Rex Perform Well Consistently?

The performance of the Amazfit T-Rex is excellent. The battery can last up to 20 days in everyday use but as with most smartwatches, the battery life drops significantly when you use the GPS. If you have GPS on constantly then you can expect the battery to last around 20 hours.

The design won’t win any awards but it is lightweight, comes in five colour choices and feels good on your wrist; however, it’s only available in one size so may not be so good for smaller wrists. The touchscreen display is clear and crisp and there are four buttons to help with navigation. This smartwatch boasts military-grade prowess that has been proven with its many certifications.

What Features Does the Amazfit T-Rex Have?

The Amazfit T-Rex comes with a huge range of features. Starting with the non-fitness features; there is a messaging system, phone notifications as well as a range of apps that you can use to personalise your smartwatch. It’s great if you want to stay in touch with the world from your watch and you can see what’s happening on your phone at all times.

The operating system is a breeze to use and is similar to other Android systems on the market. You will have to get hold of the app for your phone before you can start the setup process but once you’ve installed everything and are up and running then it is simple to use. The app is full of interesting and useful information and it’s in there that you will be able to access all your stats.

The settings allow you to personalise your smartwatch face and settings but are split between the app and the watch. This quirk can make it hard to use but when you get used to what is where it becomes second nature.

Fitness Tracking

If you are a fitness fiend then this watch can track 14 different activities and tell you how your heart is working, how you sleep and where you’ve been thanks to GPS. You can rely on it to track the number of steps you do in a day so that you can monitor your goals and know when you have smashed them.

The activities tracked include running, climbing, skiing, swimming and gym mode. There are also hints that this may grow with future updates so keep an eye on what you are able to track if your favourite activity isn’t listed.

Regardless of the temperature or humidity, this smartwatch performs consistently well and provides you with a range of results that will help you make the most of your fitness plans. The only caveat is that the Heart Rate monitor can struggle a bit when monitoring intervals.

What are the Pros and Cons of the Amazfit T-Rex?

There are many pros when it comes to buying this watch. Here are our favourites:

  • Extensive battery life with up to 20 days’ charge
  • Military-grade features that don’t mess around
  • Quality GPS tracking for your fitness tracking
  • Heart Rate monitor so you can measure your progress
  • Water resistance up to 50m

With any smartwatch, you can expect some cons and the Amazfit T-Rex is no different. Here are our cons:

  • It takes a while to set up and sort out
  • Some of the settings aren’t available on the app
  • Doesn’t look as expensive as the competition
  • Heart rate monitor isn’t always accurate

Why Should I Buy the Amazfit T-Rex?

When you stop to consider the raft of features that this budget smartwatch offers then you’d be crazy not to give it a go! We love that it is packed to the brim with functions and can help you monitor your activity as well as your health stats.

The long battery life is the main selling point, but it has a lot more to offer, especially at such a phenomenal price. The Amazfit T-Rex is a real find in a crowded market full of watches selling for much more. If you buy one you won’t be disappointed – so long as you can get through the initial setup without throwing it at the wall!

I am awaiting the arrival of this watch and your review has increased my confidence in this product. My only concern is your mention of the difficulty with the set up. Yours is the only review that mentions this. Has anyone provided a set of easy to follow instructions, as obviously the booklet that comes with it doesn’t appear to fulfil that role? Reviewers never mention the loudness of the alarm. In my experience with major brand watches, the alarms are useless! I would welcome your comments. Many thanks.

Hi Terry, we are pleased to hear our review has helped. Unfortunately we do not have a set of easy instructions to follow etc however I have had a look on YouTube and there seem to be a few videos that could help walk you through this should you need it. Hope you enjoy your purchase 🙂
