If you are a man who is an avid outdoor adventurer or need a smartwatch that can keep up with what life throws at it, then you may need to upgrade your current smartwatch to a more rugged smartwatch. However, finding the right model for your needs can be difficult, with so many options saturating the market right now. To help you with your decision making, we have taken some of the most popular rugged smartwatches and shared a short but informative review so that you can choose with ease.
Is the TicWatch S2 Smartwatch a Military Grade Rugged Smartwatch?
The Mobvoi TicWatch S2 is a great rugged smartwatch for anyone that needs a trusty device in the toughest of conditions. It has military-grade protection, two-day battery life, and offers a waterproof design so that it can go wherever you go without fuss.
- Full Function Wear OS Smartwatch - Google Play Store allows you to choose from a wide range of your...
- Get Connected at a Glance - Stay in the moment with smart ways to receive notifications and see...
- Swim-ready Water-resistant - Your swimming companion with up to 50 meter underwater waterproof (5...
It is not highly-priced and will be affordable for most budgets, especially if you are looking for a device that will last rather than replacing it every couple of months. The only drawback is that there is no option to use the device to pay for items, and it does not feel like a premium device when you wear it, despite having removable straps and being lightweight.
Is the Casio WSD-F30 Too Large To Wear?
With a seriously clever layered screen and a robust casing, this rugged smartwatch is not for the fainthearted! Casio has worked hard to deliver a great smartwatch for serious hikers and adventurers, but it is also a great choice for those who love to fish, kayak, and run.
Sadly, we found that while the intention is there to provide a great user experience, the design and battery life let the watch down considerably. There is no heart rate monitor, it’s pretty large and bulky on the wrist, and the charging speed is too slow. While the spec may make it look attractive, we’d suggest you steer clear of this rugged smartwatch for men.
How Reliable Is the Garmin Instinct Solar Tactical?
- Vastly extended battery life through solar charging
- Rugged GPS Watch is water-rated to 100 meters and constructed to U.S. military standard 810 for...
- Built-in 3-axis compass and barometric altimeter plus multiple global navigation satellite systems...
Garmin is a pro for making smartwatches, but the Instinct Solar is even more brilliant than we first thought it would be! If you can get past the less than attractive design, you will be impressed with the level of detail and practicality on offer with this solar-powered watch. Not only does it keep itself topped up with charge, but it also offers a range of power modes to choose from so that you can maximize the battery life to suit your needs.
It also comes with a range of quality features, including an oxygen sensor and a heart rate monitor. It is made from seriously tough materials so that you can depend on it wherever you find yourself. The battery life is great and will last weeks without being plugged in, especially if you are out and about sucking in that solar energy. A great choice for anyone with a decent budget to spend.
Does the Amazfit T-Rex Smartwatch Perform Well?
If you are looking for a good value, rugged smartwatch that can take you through any terrain, then the T-Rex may be the perfect solution. It offers a pretty good battery life and has many different tracking features that will show you how well you have performed during the day.
- MILITARY STANDARD: Amazfit T-Rex smartwatch passed 12 military grade certifications, ensuring its...
- ULTR-LONG BATTERY LIFE: A deep power optimization give the Amazfit T-Rex a longer battery life of up...
- POWERFUL ALWAYS ON DISPLAY: The Amazfit T-Rex uses a 1.3” AMOLED color screen which supports...
The design is robust, and the screen is clear to read so that you can see what is happening without having to stop. However, the watch itself is a bit on the chunky side, making it cumbersome when you want to wear it with long sleeves or have a smaller wrist. Despite this, we still think that the T-Rex is a great, value choice for anyone who needs a rugged smartwatch.
How Good Is the Garmin Fenix 6 Series
Of all the rugged smartwatches we tested, the Fenix 6 really blew our minds! It offers an exceptional design that is solid and dependable even in the most difficult terrains and has a wide range of outdoor tracking options that will tell you how hard you are hitting your goals each day. Not only is there a wealth of tracking options, but we feel that it will be unbeatable on tracking accuracy, which is great if you need accurate stats to measure your progress.
- Fit for performance with rugged, sophisticated design that features an always-on 1.3 inches (18%...
- Enhanced estimated wrist heart rate and Pulse Ox to support advanced sleep monitoring and altitude...
- Advanced training features include PacePro for grade-adjusted pace guidance throughout your activity...
It is an upgrade on the Fenix 5, but it feels like a brand new device! Unfortunately, it is a costly device that will set you back a significant amount, meaning that it may be out of your price range when it is time to get an upgrade.
Is the Ticwatch Pro 3 a Viable Choice?
When the TicWatch Pro 3 was released, we were unsure if it would live up to expectations, but we are pretty impressed after testing it. Not only does it come with a Snapdragon 4100 chipset, but it also offers an amazing high-resolution display for you to enjoy. With good fitness tracking and notification options, you will track your efforts and stay in touch with your loved ones with ease.
- Innovative Technology Ensures Longer Battery Life - Dual-layer Display 2.0 supports Smart Mode and...
- Updated Chipset, Better Experience - The 1st wear OS by Google smartwatch with the Qualcomm...
- Advanced Health and Fitness Monitoring - Multiple sports modes, with built-in GPS, barometer and...
While this watch may not be the best at any one thing, it does have a decent battery life that will last up to three days before needing to be charged. It could have been better if Wear OS had been swapped for a better operating system, but what it does offer, it does well. The only real issue is that sleep tracking is not accurate, so if this is a deal-breaker for you, then it may be worth looking elsewhere.
The Verdict
It is clear that all these rugged smartwatches have something special to offer, but we’d be lying if we didn’t point out that the Garmin Fenix 6 was something pretty special. With great battery life, range of functions and comfortable, yet stylish design, you can be certain that your daily life will only ever be enhanced by what this smartwatch has to offer.
No matter what model you choose, take the time to find the device that can meet your needs in full, and you will soon wonder how you ever coped without it! Whichever you opt for, we wish you the happiest adventures with your new rugged smartwatch.
