By Isobel Coughlan. Updated: May 1, 2022

The Fitbit Luxe vs Garmin Lily – although one’s a fitness tracker and another is a smartwatch, these watches are very similar in terms of features and services. Both offer a luxurious design with a modern look, but what really sets them apart from their obvious differences?

If you prefer traditional smartwatches, you may be drawn to the Garmin Lily, and if you’re a keen fitness fan, you might go for the Fitbit Luxe. However, before you choose, see how these similar devices compare!

Keep on reading to explore the key features of these two modern devices.

Meet the watches

Before we get into the nitty-gritty and compare the key features of the Garmin Lily and Fitbit Luxe, here’s a quick introduction to each device.

Fitbit Luxe

Fitbit Luxe with original packaging

With a focus on fitness and health tracking, the Fitbit Luxe is an impressive wearable from the famous fitness brand. This device offers a sleek band-like appearance and color options so that it can blend in with jewelry and match any color palette. This is already a very popular fitness tracker that retails for approximately $150.

    Garmin Lily

The Garmin Lily sits slightly above the Fitbit Luxe at $180. However, this smartwatch option is more suited to those who want a traditional watch look. Instead of a band shape, this watch offers a circular design and a clear screen. This watch will complement your day-to-day life with its large range of features and apps.

      Key features

Here’s a comparison of the most important features of these two watches to help you decide which is best for you!

      Design

Design is an important feature for smartwatches and fitness trackers alike. Some may overlook this feature; however, when you’re wearing a watch every day, it’s essential that you like the look of it too.

The Fitbit Luxe gives users a sleek band design that looks different from traditional watches. The concept for this design was to create a fitness tracker that doubled as a piece of jewelry. Perfect for anyone that likes to accessorize an outfit. This tracker comes in a range of color options and has a large variety of bands to choose from too. You can even get a gold chain band to really boost its style appeal.

On the other hand, the Garmin Lily takes a classic circular watch face approach. This also gives it a clear smartwatch appearance rather than ambiguous jewelry. The smartwatch comes in six color combinations, offering something for everyone. It also has two looks Classic and Sport, depending on your lifestyle needs.

      Display

When it comes to display, both devices feature high-quality designs. The Fitbit Luxe has a slight advantage here as it offers an AMOLED touchscreen with color, whereas the Garmin Lily is in greyscale. The Garmin Lily has a higher resolution at 240 x 240 pixels, whereas the Fitbit Lux has a resolution of 124 x 124.

      Fitness & Health

Fitness and health apps are nearly always present on modern watches, and the Garmin Lily and Fitbit Luxe are no different!

Both watches feature standard activity tracking such as a pedometer, distance traveled, and heart rate monitoring. They also feature high-quality sleep tracking and stress management tools to help wearers look after their health in all aspects of life.

The Garmin Lily comes with 7 activity tracking modes, body battery, safety tracking, and intensity minutes. On the other hand, the Fitbit Luxe has over 20 activity modes, open water swim tracking, and is waterproof up to 5ATM.

The two watches also feature more advanced sensors like SpO2 monitoring and female health tracking. These are relatively new trackers in the smartwatch industry, and they don’t appear on all models, so if you’re after a high-quality watch, both are great options.

A key difference between these two watches is that the Fitbit Luxe offers the “Active Zone Minutes” feature, proving it’s more specialized for sports and fitness than the Garmin Lily. This might be a deciding factor if you want a watch specifically for fitness activities.

If you want built-in GPS for outdoor workouts or maps, unfortunately, both watches lack this feature, and we hope to see it on any future updates.

      Compatibility

The Garmin Lily is compatible with Android and iOS, perfect for all smartphone users. The same goes for the Fitbit Luxe; however, users will need Android 8.0 or above and iOS 13.3 or above. Before investing in the Luxe, make sure you check whether your smartphone is up to date or not!

      Battery Life

When it comes to battery life, both of these smartwatches can hold the battery for up to 5 days. It’s important to note that if you use trackers and sensors, the battery life may not last for the entire 5 days, so make sure you always have your charger handy just in case!

      Which to choose?

When it comes to the Fitbit Luxe vs Garmin Lily, it may seem like the Fitbit Luxe is for sporty users, and the Garmin Lily is for smartwatch lovers, but in reality, both watches could satisfy both markets. The main difference between the two watches is the Fitbit Luxe’s extra sports modes, and the Garmin Lily is slightly more expensive. They also feature different design aesthetics, but that comes down to personal taste. Other than that, these two modern watches are similar and both great for day-to-day use!
