It looks like new Fitbit watches could be on the way.
Though there’s no official launch yet, keen-eyed fans have spotted three potential new smartwatches on the horizon. Watch aficionados also expect the new wearables to use a unique software – not the popular Wear OS.

What’s Going On?
Firstly, in 2021 Google acquired the fitness-focused brand with an impressive $2.1 billion deal. Following this deal, Fitbit was combined into “Mountain View” – Google’s hardware division.
This is excellent news for any die-hard Fitbit fans, as new wearables are said to be on the way.
New Fitbit Watch Devices
Sources, such as 9To5Google, have analyzed the Fitbit App and the Google Acquisition. These studies have revealed that a Sense 2 model and a Versa 4 are likely on the way. If you’ve been considering these models, you may want to wait until their successive generations are launched!
The potential wearables are named “Rhea” and “Hera” on the Fitbit app. These are suspected to be codenames, adding some mystery to the subsequent launches. Though we can’t be 100% sure, it’s possible that these two mystery watches are updated Versa and Sense models.
We may also see a new Fitbit Luxe model. The app shows another watch with the codename “Nyota.” This unknown wearable has a 124×208 resolution display which mimics the famous Fitbit Luxe. Could this be the next installment in the Luxe range? Only time will tell.
Will Fitbit Watches Include Wear OS?
When the Fitbit acquisition was completed, the brand announced that their following premium devices would be “based on Wear OS.” This has led experts to believe that they won’t offer Wear OS and instead they’ll use a unique Google server.
The smartwatches found in the Fitbit code are using a “bridge” software. Bridge seems to connect your watch to your phone via Bluetooth – this additional feature wouldn’t be necessary if Wear OS were used for the next generation of Fitbits.
This news might be frustrating for some Fitbit fans, especially as other brands adopt Wear OS and its seamless functions. However, we’re sure the Google Fitbit collaboration will welcome new and improved on-wrist tech.
Why Choose Fitbit?
If you’re deciding on a new wearable, you may want a Wear OS device.
Don’t let Fitbit’s unique software put you off – these devices run smoothly and consistently deliver accurate results. Not only that, but when you use a Fitbit, you get access to the popular Fitbit Premium app. This is a highly successful partner app that boasted over 500,000 subscribers in its first year.
The Fitbit OS software is used on a range of current Fitbit models, so make sure you consider this popular brand when choosing your next on-wrist fitness buddy. The Fitbit Sense already runs on Fitbit OS 5.2.1, so we’re excited to see future updates of this software.
