There are many watches we’d like to see in the future, but one of the top spots on our list is the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 3.
Unlike the classic Samsung Galaxy Watch, the Active series is here to provide a sleek smartwatch for those with a fitness focus. These two series are very similar, and some key differences set them apart – such as size and battery life.
Currently, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active range comes in two models. Could we see a third soon? Let’s investigate whether we’ll enjoy a new active watch next year.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 3
So, we’re looking at the possibility of a third active watch. But when could we realistically meet the next installment in this Samsung range?
The last active watch, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2, was released in September 2019. It’s been three years, and we’ve just received the fourth classic Samsung watch, so it’s the perfect time for a new fitness counterpart.
However, this three-year gap may also hint that Samsung has put the active range to rest now. Though some users have questioned a third model, many Galaxy Watch fans set their sights on the classic range.
The standard Galaxy Watch has a complete suite of health and fitness trackers, so fitness junkies could stick to the standard model and not miss out on any essential differences.
What Separates the Classic Watch and the Active Watch?
When compared, the classic watch and the active watch are both very similar.
You’d expect the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active to offer extra fitness features or premium sensors, but both series provide the same fitness trackers. These include heart rate monitors, GPS data, sleep tracking, and specialized sports modes.
The key differences between these two watches include design and size. The active device offers a slimmer build and a lightweight feel. Plus, it only comes in one size, making working out more comfortable. However, the original watch is very lightweight too.
Unless the developers added unique features to the potential Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 3, you’re probably better off sticking to the classic Samsung Galaxy Watch range. Especially as these watches come in various sizes, bands, colors, and smart features too.
To Embrace the Sportswatch or Not?
We would love to see a Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 3, but the Samsung team is now focusing on one optimized wearable rather than two types of watch.
This makes sense, as providing customers with an all-in-one solution makes shopping more accessible, and it helps the wearable compete with competitors such as Apple.

The Bottom Line
It doesn’t look like another active watch is likely, but you never know! Maybe Samsung will surprise us with another sports wearable and updated workouts or trackers. However, if they continue focusing their attention on the Galaxy Watch Classic range, we’ll still be happy.
