With so many different watches on the market, it can be hard to find one that fits your needs and offers a range of features that will leave you feeling impressed. Stuhrling has been making watches for some time, and we thought that the Depthmaster was definitely worth a closer look! Take a look at what we discovered and decide if this model has everything you’ve been looking for.
The History of Stuhrling Watches
Stuhrling is an American brand that specializes in the design, manufacture, and sale of new watches. We do not have an exact date of when the company was first founded, but we are aware of its Swiss origins from the watchmaker Max Stuhrling. Max Stuhrling lived and worked in Switzerland in the 1800s, and it is believed that his skills and design ideas formed the basis for the same company that Chaim Fischer founded in 1999.
Later, in 2002, Max Stuhrling VI – the great-grandson of Max Stuhrling – worked with George von Burg to take the Stuhrling brand online to reach a new market. Their main aim was to show off the history behind the company and provide watch lovers with the confidence needed to buy into the brand.
Today, Stuhrling manufactures their watches in Asia, meaning that many of their watches come with Chinese and Japanese movements. However, it is important to note that Swiss timepieces are not necessarily made in Switzerland – they just need to use a Swiss movement to be classed as such.

The Stuhrling Depthmaster Design
When it comes to design, the Stuhrling Depthmaster offers a classy look and stylish finish. It is housed in a stainless steel case and comes with a stainless steel bracelet with a push-button deployment clasp. When it comes to telling the time, this device not only offers easy reading, but it comes with excellent timekeeping so that you can be sure the time you get is accurate. The case is a traditional 44m in diameter, meaning that putting it on to wear should not be a big change from any other watch you normally wear.
The watch face is black with luminous hour and minute hands as well as hour and minute markers. The face also has a second hand for precision timekeeping and a date window to help you keep on track. The face is also home to the Stuhrling logo that is located underneath the 12’o’clock marker.
The bracelet is entirely adjustable to ensure it fits you snugly. All you need to do is add or remove the links to get a perfect size. All in all, it is simple to read and stylish to look at, making it an excellent choice for work and play.
The Stuhrling 3950A Features
This watch is water-resistant to 100m and offers both a divers clasp and a screw-down crown to maintain the watch’s integrity when it is underwater. It is mildly disappointing that the watch can only go to depths of 100m, as we would like to see at least 200m to make it competitive to diving fans.
It is a very affordable watch that could easily be overlooked by any diver that wants a trustworthy device. Still, in reality, the pricing is excellent for what is on offer – a highly reliable and easy-to-use watch.
The Stuhrling Warranty
Another attractive aspect of this watch is that it comes with an international warranty. In fact, all Stuhrling devices come with an international warranty so that you can get them fixed wherever you are. Typically, the warranty is for 2-years and is a limited warranty that gives you cover for repairs or replacement of a faulty movement. If the watch is quartz, you will also be given a one-year warranty to cover the battery.
Having a warranty gives you peace of mind that your new device is covered in case of any manufacturing fault. Still, it is essential to remember that it doesn’t provide you with cover for any broken or damaged straps, casing, bracelet, or face covering. It also doesn’t cover damage that is the result of normal wear and tear. If your watch is marketed as water-resistant, then this is covered, but if not, then it is not.
Should I Buy the Stuhrling Depthmaster?
Deciding whether to buy the Stuhrling Pro Diver or not depends on your reasons for buying. If you want to get a dependable and durable watch, then you can expect it to live up to your expectations and last for a long time, offering you the reliability that you want from a watch.
However, if you are keen to add a timepiece to your collection that can grow in value and become an heirloom for generations to come, then you are wasting your time. The only Stuhrling watches that tend to grow in value are the limited edition versions, meaning that the 3950A Pro Diver is more of an ideal choice for everyday wear.
Ultimately, the Depthmaster is attractive, dependable, and comes with many quality features that you will be able to enjoy, meaning that you should definitely purchase one if that is the specification that you are looking for.
