In the tech sector, it’s fair to say that smartwatches are fairly hot property. So there are lots of upcoming and new smartwatches in 2023 that you might be interested in.
Some of the biggest brands on the market have and will be releasing brand new additions to their ranges. Samsung and Apple are among the contenders for the spot of the top new smartwatch of 2023. So, which devices can we get excited about towards the end of this year?
Samsung Galaxy Watch 6
The Galaxy Watch 5 was a star of the marketplace at the end of 2022.
We assume a Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 is almost certainly coming – and there’s no reason to expect the firm will stop developing smartwatches anytime soon – it’s still too early to list many leaks or speculations.
Based on previous release dates, we think it’ll land in August 2022; poised to compete with the forthcoming Apple Watch 8 – and maybe Google’s long-awaited Pixel Watch.
These gadgets offered a new operating system that combined the best of Tizen and Wear OS, all while being powered by a fast new processor and including a slew of new health-tracking features. And they mostly delivered on that promise, albeit with a few limitations and difficulties.
Although we haven’t heard much about the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6, we have spotted a patent for a smartwatch with an extensible screen that can expand by 40% when a pinch motion is employed. In the same patent, a camera is depicted as part of the timepiece.
We anticipate just modest visual changes from the current Galaxy Watch generation, and although a thinner design is always great, we’d be content with the same thickness but longer battery life than the 2022 model.
We haven’t heard anything regarding pricing for the Galaxy Watch 6, but we anticipate Samsung will follow a similar pattern and announce two versions, each with two sizes and 4G support.

Fitbit Charge 6
The Fitbit Charge 5 came released in August 2021, a year and a half after Charge 4. Its range has five generations and one intermediate upgrade. You may be thinking whether now is the time to get Charge 5 or wait for generation 6. There’s nothing worse than purchasing stuff that becomes obsolete in a few months. Contrary to other firms – Fitbit is fairly adept at updating software even for older models of its devices. This helps explain the brand’s strong fanbase.
Some wondered what would happen to Fitbit once Google bought it. So far, business as usual, with no reason to anticipate a change. Regardless, we anticipate a full-fledged wristwatch to emerge out of this alliance. We’ll see whether it’s Google or a cooperative effort.
There have been no credible leaks or regulatory filings for Fitbit Charge 6. We will update this article. Here is a breakdown of what to anticipate (and how it may be improved) and a possible release date. Again, we anticipate a solid mix of functionality, design, battery life, and affordability.

While the design hasn’t changed much, the display might need some improvement. It features a 1.04 inch AMOLED. While better than Charge 4, the screen might be bigger. The thick bezel allows for a bigger display. The business did remove the obnoxious Fitbit branding off the tracker’s face, which is a start.
Part of the issue is the power-hungry screen technology. Nonetheless, wearable tech is getting more power-efficient. So we want a bigger screen with the same (or better) battery life.
Fitbit may even reconsider not having a physical button. Yes, the tablet is slimmer without it, but fumbling with a touch screen with moist palms may be a challenge. In frigid temperatures, wear gloves.

The Fitbit Charge 5 is a superior fitness and health tracker. The gadget combines the greatest elements of Fitbit’s existing portfolio.
The Fitbit premium pay-wall hides some of this. For example, not everyone has access to the much-anticipated Readiness Score. While unpopular, we do not expect it to change. Sadly, this is the path many wearable companies are taking. It gives them a second source of money.
The Charge 5 has built-in GPS and a slew of sensors to monitor runs without a watch. This features 24/7 activity and sleep monitoring, an EDA (electrodermal activity) stress sensor, and an ECG.
The next generation should see blood pressure as the next big thing. Expect to see additional gadgets with that capability in the coming months. Unlike ECG, the optical heart rate sensor will monitor this automatically.
An altimeter for floors ascended would be another sensor upgrade. Fitbit eliminated this feature in version five. A great metric, despite its unreliability.
While the Fitbit Charge 5 excels at monitoring health and fitness, it lacks in smart features. Fitbit has discontinued Spotify support for the Charge 4. You don’t even have smartphone music control, which is a pity for a fitness tracker.
Apps are another avenue for growth. Charge 4 has a restricted selection. Sure, it’s not a smartwatch, but the line between the two is blurring.
A native Apple Health and Google Fit connection would be good.

What about Fitbit bands?
Though the Fitbit app sees many updates, will the bands be updated too in 2022?
Fitbit is a known leader in the fitness industry, so we’re always looking to them to provide the latest tech updates. Though their watches always offer the newest fitness features and health trackers, there are some watch functions we’d like to see.
Many fans have noticed that these watches lack fall detection or incident detection features, and these added functions would keep users safe while on the go. Another possible update is an early hypertension detector. This would be a game-changing update for the brand as a potential sensor could save wearers’ lives. A hypertension sensor can measure if your pulse wave velocity is slow, indicating your arteries are stiffer.

Apple Watch Series 8 and Ultra
Apple has released a brand new watch for its range every September from 2014. So in 2022 they did not break that tradition.
The Apple Watch Series 8 has all the same elements inside as the Series 7. However, the outside is marginally bigger. The Apple Watch Series 8 comes in two sizes: 41mm and 45mm respectively.
It has the same display, case material options, water resistance (50m), processor (S6), sensors, connectively.
The only other difference is that the Series 8 is more durable, with an IP6X dust resistance and a 50% thicker crystal. Finally, although you still get the same 18 (ish) hours battery life, it will charge 33% faster.

While no specifics on the Apple Watch Series 8 have been confirmed, we can address certain speculations. So, let’s speculate over what we want from the Apple Watch Series 8…
Design
One of the most frequent rumours regarding the Apple Watch Series 7 was that it would be designed with flat edges like the iPhone 13 and iPad Pro. This did not turn out to be the case, thus the focus has now gone to the Apple Series 8. It’s conceivable that Apple had to postpone the change owing to manufacturing concerns, or that it was always planned for the Apple Watch 8.
Despite this, contradictory rumours say that the design will stay the same as the Series 7, with rounded corners.
Size
Apple Watches haven’t seen major design updates in years. The Series 7 has a 20% larger display than the previous generation. Why would they change it this year?
However, consumers want options, which is why the next series should offer three sizes. Even with the increase from prior generations, one of the sizes should be greater than the current Series 7 (40mm and 44mm).
Features

Beyond the aforementioned, the Apple Watch Series 8 now includes a keyboard and charges 33% quicker than the Series 7. That doesn’t mean certain features can’t be upgraded for Series 8.
Touch ID is unquestionably one. Apple Watches are the only products that lack Touch ID. This would be a great feature for the next line.
The battery life has upgraded a bit from the Series 7 to the Series 8. While quicker charging does not negate the need to charge more regularly. Longer battery life is an anticipated and much-desired feature of Apple Watch Series 9.
Conclusions
It’s natural for fans to become enthusiastic when Apple announces a new product. It’s only disappointing when the series doesn’t improve. While Apple Watch Series 7 has several noticeable upgrades, it lacks certain key functions that enthusiasts expected.
Those who haven’t acquired a Series 7 yet may want to wait until the Series 8. Waiting for features like skin temperature readings and a new appearance is tempting. Touch ID is one of the features that is absolutely coming.

What we want to see
When it comes to Apple Watches, we want to see improved battery life. Though the series 7 model charges 33% faster, you’re still left with approximately 18 hours of charge. If you use GPS or many apps, this charge goes down even more quickly. This often leaves users frustrated and looking for their chargers.
Who knows, perhaps the next installment in the Apple Watch series will have longer battery life. We’ll have to wait and see!
Apple Watch SE 2
We would love to see many watches, but one fundamental model is an updated Apple Watch SE. Whether we get an SE 2 or a different form of the watch, it would be a shame for this popular watch to stay stagnant.
While there are no definite release dates or confirmations that an Apple Watch SE 2 is on the cards, it’s a popular idea. This would counter the Apple Watch 7 as a modern yet affordable release from the brand.

Of course, since there’s no release information or any public plans for this watch, we can only speculate. However, if this watch does get released, it will likely be available at the end of 2022 or possibly even later.
Released in late 2021 – early 2022
Mi Band 7
The Mi Band 7 is here and is one of the best budget smartwatches available. Xiaomi Inc has stated that this smart band will be available in March 2023, but we’re hoping it arrives earlier if possible!
The Mi Band 7 is a reasonably priced fitness tracker with a larger, more colourful display that can give precise fitness and health tracking. Despite a few small name changes, the Xiaomi fitness tracker’s attraction remains the same — it is a low-cost fitness tracker that can accurately track fitness and health.
Popularity of these bands can be attributed to their similarity to more expensive fitness trackers like the Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch. Although the price has risen slightly to $60, the Fitbit Charge 5 is still a lot less expensive than this. This is why we believe the Mi Band 7 is a mid-tier watch rather than a low-end one.
Although smartwatches and fitness trackers with huge displays are more eye-catching, Xiaomi’s Smart Band 7 shows that practical items may still find a market when priced appropriately. Because it does precisely what it says on the box, customers will be happy with it.

Garmin Epix 2
The Epix is a popular range from super watch giant Garmin, but what does the second generation of this model offer?
Released on the 18th of January 2022, the Epix 2 is here to update your sports watch experience. This model has been described as a Fenix with an AMOLED display, as the impressive watch comes with a color touchscreen.

TicWatch E3
The second-ever smartwatch to run on the Snapdragon Wear 4100 chip. The Ticwatch E3 is a top performer boasting a wealth of wellness and fitness features. This is also a mid-priced watch that undercuts some of its rivals significantly.
While it isn’t the slimmest smartwatch out there, it measures 44mm and weighs just 36g. So it isn’t exceptionally bulky either. While the screen isn’t cutting-edge, it’s a solid choice with a 2.5Dlens and 360 x 360 1.3” display.
Amongst its features, it offers GPS with Beidou and GLONASS support and twenty different workout modes. This model has a greater focus on wellness. Furthermore, lots of Tic-branded apps are being introduced to make it a strong choice for fitness enthusiasts.
Fossil Gen 6
Again, the latest smartwatch from Fossil has just been released this year.
This is a flagship device for the brand and is lined up to be a blueprint for the remainder of Fossil’s lineup for the two years to come.
Instead of cutting-edge technology, Fossil’s smartwatches have an attractive appearance and a reliable Wear OS platform. Despite being a low-cost watch, the new Fossil watch has a few interesting features, including the Snapdragon Wear 4100 Plus CPU and Wear OS 3, a version of Google’s wearable OS that will incorporate Samsung’s Tizen OS.
Despite the fact that these are the most obvious improvements over the Gen 5, the layout is almost same. If the previous one looked a bit too slick, the new Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch features a bezel ridge and substantial pusher and crown buttons. Even while it isn’t a huge change from the previous generation, the design remains beautiful.
Fossil Gen 7
Though, there are already rumours of a Gen 7 hitting the market.

Huawei GT3
The Huawei Watch GT 3 is a fitness-focused wristwatch that looks excellent and, owing to a new chipset, feels speedy and snappy. It also comes with a slew of health-tracking features and boasts outstanding battery life – especially if you choose for the bigger 46mm model. The watch boasts a snappy touchscreen, but you won’t need to use it very much thanks to the Apple-style digital crown.
The watch’s array of biological sensors measure heart rate, SpO2, skin temperature, stress, and sleep, so its lifespan doesn’t come at the sacrifice of features. This time around, Huawei has improved its optical heart rate sensor, and the results are amazing; changes are recognised rapidly during tough interval training sessions, and accuracy is comparable to that of specialist running watches.
There’s also support for five satellite navigation systems, which should allow for more precise position tracking in locations where your line of sight to the sky is restricted. It wasn’t quite as precise as Garmin’s GPS at mapping out our pre-measured route in our testing, but it was more than enough for recreational jogging.
The watch is compatible with over 100 activities (both indoor and outdoor), but it shines while you’re jogging. The ‘AI trainer’ tool allows you to specify a goal and a deadline, and then it generates a training plan that adjusts to your performance on the fly. It’s a well-designed, simple-to-use tool that’s especially well-suited to beginner runners looking to reach their first goals.
The watch’s built-in microphone is also a huge plus for runners, since it allows you to make and receive calls through Bluetooth without having to take out your phone. You can’t use this function without your phone since there isn’t an eSIM, but it’s really easy to use and especially useful in an emergency.
It’s a pity, too, that contactless payments aren’t supported.
The Huawei Health smartphone app is available for both Android and iOS, although we had to download the most recent Android version via the Huawei AppGallery rather than directly from Google Play to receive the most recent version. It was just a slight annoyance, but it was one we’d prefer avoid.
Overall, this is a fantastic gadget that combines the greatest aspects of Huawei’s previous models into a sleek, streamlined compact. It’s simple to suggest if you’re looking for a wonderful all-around smartwatch, especially at such a low price.
Unfortunately, it’s not yet available in the US but you can get the GT2 Pro.
Moto Watch 100

Garmin Forerunner 55
The Garmin Forerunner was released on June 2nd, 2021, and was a highly anticipated launch from the premium brand. This affordable option sits just under $200, offering high-tech features and a sleek design for a lower budget price.
This new release has an impressive 20 hours of battery life with GPS (up from 13). It also features suggested workout features, helping you beat your fitness goals while staying fit and healthy at the same time.
The watch also gives users accurate pace and distance results, so it’s well-suited to any avid runners. You can also use a Virtual Run mode for any treadmill exercises, however, it’s reported that the watch gives more accurate results with running than treadmill activity.
The Forerunner 55 is only available in one 42mm size, unlike the previous Forerunner 45 watch. The design also features a 1.04inch screen with 208 x 208-pixel resolution. There are 5 buttons for navigation and the display has a narrow design like the Coros Pace 2 watch.

Other new smartwatches for 2022
Google Pixel Watch
Although still a rumor, the Google Pixel Watch is expected to have a minimalist look
Although the Google Pixel Watch is still only a rumor, and we keep thinking it’ll be dropped, then nothing.. Since Google acquired Fitbit, more speculation has surfaced that it could be due to launch later this year, and October is a solid guess since Google often chooses that month for launching its new hardware.
So far, the only information that has been leaked is its name, but there are other rumors out there, including the suggestion that its appearance will be round with no bezel and that there will be twenty different strap options. It’s also very likely that it will come with Wear OS as its operating system.
Garmin Enduro Gen 2

Garmin Instinct Crossover Watch
Introducing a big and rugged watch, the Garmin Instinct Crossover does the job. With its hybrid appearance, it has analog hands and a classic look. The Instinct Crossover comes in three editions: The standard, the Solar, and the Solar Tactical.
