Fitbit Badges & Trophies: How they can Motivate you in 2023

By Emma Morris. Updated: Jan 21, 2023

Fitbit Badges

How many of us have set fitness goals and quickly lost motivation? We might buy a fitness tracker thinking we’ll live a healthier lifestyle. But when the novelty wears off, it can be hard to stick to the healthy habits we were starting to form. To boost your motivation, Fitbit offers a reward system in which you earn icon badges on the app for the more activity you track in terms of steps, distance, floors climbed, weight-loss, and now for Premium Adventures or Group Challenges.

The Badges: How will they motivate you?

It is simply cool to see your progress recorded in real time. And rather than celebrate walking or running milestones, stair climbing achievements, and distance goals all by yourself, Fitbit helps you by rewarding you. The award is a simple icon. However, it is exciting when each badge pops up on your fitness tracker or phone. The badges and trophies are also the perfect way to challenge yourself to doing more with each workout, or each daily activity.

Fitbit badges could motivate you to walk your dog a bit further each day. Or the rewards can motivate you to complete a longer hike next time. Plus, you can easily share Badges and moments with your Fitbit Fam.

Fitbit’s Motivators

Daily Steps Badges

Fitbit calculates every step you take; and the more you walk, the more badges you can achieve. Your first badge comes upon reaching 5000 steps in one day (the Boat Shoe Badge); they then go up in 5,000-step-increments until you hit 80,000 (Futuristic Kicks Badge). Then badges come at 90,000 steps (the Rocket Boot Badge), and finally 100,000 steps for the ultimate Olympian Sandal Badge.

Lifetime Distance Badges

These add up your daily steps for a lifetime total. Plus, you earn badges along the way which give you an idea of how far you’ve truly walked or ran. You earn the first badge by walking the equivalent of a marathon. Then it continues to rise in miles. Fitbit awards you, for example, when your lifetime distance totals the span of The Serengeti (500 miles), the Great Barrier Reef (1,600 miles), the Nile (4,132 miles), or the Great Wall of China (5,500 miles). The final Pole-to-Pole badge is awarded after 12,430 miles!

    Daily Climb

    Fitbit Badges

This is FitBit’s way of getting you to skip the elevator and improve your fitness by taking the stairs. But climb badges are also perfect for any hikers, daily walkers, or those with labour-intensive jobs. Daily Climb works by using the tracker’s altimeter sensor barometric pressure sensor, and step counter to detect when you’re climbing. Your fitness tracker detects a floor-climbed when you elevation increases by 10-feet.

Your first badge comes when you climb ten floors over 24-hours. The next badge comes at 25 floors, and they continue going up by 25 until you’ve (incredibly) climbed 200. From here, the badges increase by 100 until you climb a whopping 700 in one day for the Rainbow Badge.

    Lifetime Climb

    Fitbit lifetime floors badges

As with the lifetime distance, this badge accumulates the number of floors you climb in total from each day. Your first Helicopter Badge is awarded when you hit 500 lifetime floors-climbed. The last badge (Satellite Badge) in this category is awarded after you have completed a mammoth 35,000 floors! FitBit’s Lifetime Climb Badges can show you how, over time, skipping the stairs will make a difference. They can also help you to up your outdoor sporting game by having you reach greater heights on a hike or adventure.

    Weight Goal

    Fitbit Badges

If you are on a weight-loss mission, then you can use your Fitbit to help you monitor your progress. You will get a badge as soon as you set yourself a weight goal. And another when you achieve your goal plus you will also get a new badge every time you lose 5lbs. With badges available all the way up to 200 pounds, there is no weight goal too big for your Fitbit to help you achieve.

    Fitbit Badges: Frequently Asked Questions

How Can I See My Fitbit Badges?

If you’re keen to check out the badges you’ve earned, head to the Fitbit app on your phone and click on your profile. Select Badge & Trophies in the profile area to see your full collection. The badges displayed also show the number of times you achieved that milestone. When you click on an individual badge, Fitbit tells you what you got it for and when you achieved it.

Can I share my Fitbit Badges?

Some badges will make you feel especially proud of your efforts. So, you’ll be pleased to know that you can share them with your loved ones to show off your progress. To share your badges, click on the badge you want, and a share button will be available at the bottom of the screen. You can add a message or a status update then choose where to share it. You may opt to share it within the Fitbit community, and you can even text, email, or add it to your social media for everyone to see.

Can I Earn Badges If I Forget To Put My Fitbit On?

If you forget to put your Fitbit on, you will be pleased to know that you can add in any exercise or steps to the app so that your efforts do not go unnoticed. Unfortunately, Fitbit won’t use all the data for badges as the makers wanted to ensure that each step is recorded accurately and fairly. We know this is a bit annoying when you accidentally forget your tracker. Still, when you consider that most of the Fitbit devices don’t need daily charging, then you can be sure you are able to get the majority of your exercise uploaded issue-free and ready for those badges to come rolling in!

    Why Are Fitbit Badges Good?

Now you have the lowdown on Fitbit badges, and how to earn and share them, you can start your journey or mission to collecting them all. We think these badges are not just a fun way to track your progress but an easy way to get some motivation to improve on your own performance. Additionally, the nature of the badges are simple and make it easy to incorporate exercise into more parts of life.
