Withings Steel HR vs ScanWatch: Which Is For You?

By Isobel Coughlan. Updated: Sep 3, 2022

Withings Steel HR and ScanWatch

The ScanWatch is an undeniably attractive smartwatch with a suite of premium features. However, the Steel HR wearable is also an aesthetic contender. But who really wins the Withings Steel HR vs ScanWatch debate?

If you’re on the market for a new premium wearable, you’re likely asking yourself the Withings Steel HR vs ScanWatch question – and it’s a tough one! With two high-quality watches, it’s tough to know which is for you.

However, while these hybrid watches are similar, they’re not 100% identical. Want to know more? Keep reading to see which smartwatch fits you best.

Withings Steel HR vs ScanWatch Comparison

These watches mix analog details and tech blissfully. Plus, the design is perfect down to the minute details. Here’s our complete comparison.

Design

One key difference between these two watches is the case size. The Steel HR comes in 36mm and 40mm sizes, whereas the ScanWatch is available in 38mm and 42mm sizes. Therefore, those looking for a smaller option should consider the Steel HR, and those looking for a larger wearable might review the ScanWatch.

Another essential design difference is that the ScanWatch is manufactured with scratch-resistant sapphire glass. The Steel HR only offers regular glass.

In terms of aesthetic design and customization, both watches offer a range of strap colors, black and white dials, and case colors. Get creative with your purchase.

Health & Fitness Tools

Regarding health and fitness features, there’s a clear winner between the Withings Steel HR vs ScanWatch.

The ScanWatch is the flagship model from the French brand, and it boasts impressive health tools.

These include:

  • ECG capabilities
  • SpO2 sensors
  • 24/7 heart rate monitoring
  • Activity tracking
  • 30 sports modes
  • GPS
  • Respiratory measuring

The Steel HR also provides health and fitness features, but these aren’t as developed as the ScanWatch.

The Steel HR provides:

  • Heart rate monitoring
  • Activity tracking
  • Sports modes
  • Maximum oxygen consumption

Both watches offer sleep tracking. The built-in accelerometers and heart rate monitors can track your sleep depth, duration, and interruptions. Plus, both smartwatches come with smart on-wrist alarms too.

Price

Finally, how does the Withings Steel HR vs ScanWatch measure up in terms of price?

The ScanWatch is on sale for $279.95, and prices increase as you opt for the larger case size and different straps.

On the other hand, the Steel HR retails for $179.95. This price also increases as you opt for the sports mode or different sizes.

The Steel HR is the more affordable watch, but this sleek wearable does lack ECG monitors and SpO2. If these tools are on your list, you might want to spend a little more for the ScanWatch.

I bought a scanwatch for my husband and I would very much buy one for myself. But even the 38mm is huge for me. Why is a smaller one not available? I think lots of women are like me.
Please think of small women who also need such a wonderful watch
