Global availability
On the 21st of June, the Mi Band 7 received the long-awaited global release. This is great news for all in the Mi Band club, allowing fans to finally get their hands on the new and improved wearable.
The global launch includes countries from Western Europe and the UK, but we’re unsure when this wearable will make its way to India.
Though we’re happy to see this 2023 fitness tracker on the market, we’re sad that the NFC edition isn’t available worldwide. This will stay exclusive to China.
Features in Depth
Design
The Mi Band 7 arrives with the famous ‘pill-shaped’ design, a sleek band, and a longer screen than usual. The tracker is perfect for every ocacion- from a high-intensity workout at the gym to a family game night. This is because it is lightweight and comfortable.
But, what else is new in terms of design?
Xiaomi has added two exciting color options for the Mi Band 7. Users can now enjoy the sleek wearable in Fluorescent and Camouflage designs. Also, six new color options have been added. At this moment Mi Band is all about customization and creative design.
Display
Another key update for the Mi Band 7 is the satisfying display. Users can be pleased by a 25% larger display – ideal for easy reading and viewing in sunlight.
The fitness tracker now comes with a 1.62-inch display, rather than the Mi Band 6’s 1.56-inch display. However, the screen’s pixel density hasn’t changed – it’s still 326 PPI.
The Mi Band 7 offers an AMOLED display with popular Always-On technology.
As there are updates to the display size, the Xiaomi team has tweaked the on-screen experience to fit the new size. Users will enjoy over 100 new updated watch faces and customizable options. Plus, there are many new icons, reimagined visuals, and added effects.
Design conclusions
In essence, most people love the Mi Band because it doesn’t vary much in terms of design. The company seems to want to improve on what is already there – and this is true for the Mi Band 7. With tweaks and larger sizes, the band is recognizable and improved.
The 3 most popular places to get the Mi Band and check whether it’s available are eBay and AliExpress
Keep your eyes peeled! This tracker will be on the US market in no time.
Mi Band 7 Battery Life
Mi Band 6 users never had to worry about running out of juice – thanks to the device’s 125mAh battery. Xiaomi is always on the ball when it comes to long life spans, and yet they’ve still managed to improve this!
The Mi Band 7 is now available with an impressive 180mAh battery – a large improvement from the already impressive 125mAh battery.
This battery provides 14 days of usage – of course, this is an approximation, but Mi Bands tend to live up to expectations.
Bear in mind that stress monitoring, breathing scores, and any other complex feature could affect the watch’s battery life.
Is The Mi Band 7 Waterproof?
Like the Mi Band 6, the Mi Band 7 comes with 5ATM waterproofing.
This means the device can withstand water pressure to approximately 50 meters – this watch can now come on your summer holidays with you! If you slip into the pool with the Mi Band 7 on there’s no reason to worry.
New Health & Sports Features Mi Band 7
Mi bands have always been known to own many features, and this Mi Band is full of them. At these times health and fitness have become more concerning than ever before, so tech brands are under a lot of pressure to offer the widest range of capabilities in each device they sell. The Mi Band 7 is undoubtedly here to compete!
Xiaomi has added four brand-new activity data options to help you measure your workouts. These consist of:
- Maximum Oxygen Intake
- Training Load
- Recovery Time
- Anaerobic/Aerobic Training
Wearables today offer comprehensive trackers and sensors, allowing users to calculate every minor detail of their workouts. It’s great to see Xiaomi adding these metrics to compete with other fitness trackers.
The Mi Band 7 also offers:
- Breathing training
- Women’s health tracking
- Stress monitoring
- Sleep monitoring
- Heart rate trackers
If you want a watch that will help you manage and improve your health, the Xiaomi Mi Band 7 could be for you.
SpO2 Sensors
One of the most popular features on the market, the Mi Band 7 now includes continuous blood oxygen features. This is a great way to measure your personal fitness.
Xiaomi has taken this feature one step further, sending notifications when the user’s blood oxygen levels dip below 90%.
SpO2 is a handy feature for long-distance runners or hikers, so consider Xiaomi to complement your activities.
Sport modes
Alongside new training metrics, Mi Band 7 users can enjoy 120 unique sports modes. These include both indoor and outdoor options, such as popular gym training modes, and more.
Sports modes on the Mi Band 7 include:
- Walking
- Running
- Cycling
- Swimming
- Aerobics
- Gym training
- Skateboarding
- Rope skipping
- Tennis
- Stretching
- HIIT
- Kickboxing
- & more
These sports modes are designed to calculate calories used, and heart rates, and both can be analyzed to give you fat loss efficiency understanding. Ideal for anyone trying to reach personal goals.
Mi Band 7 GPS
If you’ve used a Mi Band before, you’ve probably noticed their one downfall. No built-in GPS.
We’ve been speculating the potential Mi Band 7 features for a while, and we’ve been hoping for built-in GPS. Users can only use assisted GPS in connection with their smartphones. However, we’re disappointed to see there’s no built-in GPS on the Mi Band 7.
Maybe next time...
Smart Features On The Mi Band 7
Anti-Bacterial Straps
Interestingly, the tracker comes with a strap made from TPU to provide an antibacterial effect. This is exciting, as there’s demand for this type of technology at the moment.
In addition to anti-bac straps, the Mi Band 7 features a sweat-conduction slot on the inside of the band. This aims to drain water or sweat away, allowing your workouts to feel comfortable.
NFC
Xiaomi has released two versions of the Mi Band 7 and one is an NFC edition. This wearable supports NFC payments and copying access cards. We’re glad to see this option added to the wearable, as NFC payments are becoming essential in the modern world.
Built-In Tools
This wearable comes with a range of built-in smart tools to complement your day-to-day life. These smart features are here to change the way you work.
Features included:
- Remote Camera
- Flashlight
- Music Controls (only with compatible phones)
- Timers (incl. the Pomodoro timer setting)
- Alarms
- Weather apps
- & more
If you want a fitness tracker that helps you in all areas, the Mi Band 7 should be on your list.
What’s The Price
Now the Mi Band is released, we’re pleased to see the price is still affordable.
The Mi Band 7 is available for an Early Bird discount in Europe, at 49.99 Euros or £49.99. This is only available until the 23rd of June.
In China, the Mi Band 7 NFC edition is approximately $44 and the standard edition is $37. However, we’re expecting the price to be slightly higher worldwide.
The new price is higher than the Mi Band 6, but we’re not surprised to see the price has crept upwards. With new tech and increased demand, this was a natural progression. Still, this is still one of the most affordable fitness trackers around – so make the most of the Early Bird offer.
Are the Mi Band Watches Worth Buying?
When Xiaomi first released its Mi Bands, many people were overly cautious about whether they would live up to the company’s promises. The main reason for this was the limited release and that the watches were so cheap to purchase. However, as time has moved forward and the devices have been upgraded, it is clear to see that the range is well worth considering.
So, we finally know what Xiaomi has been working on! Though there aren’t major adaptions, this wearable is refined and ready to compete on the global market.
Our opinion is that the Mi Band 7 is worth the upgrade based on the price point, better display, and better overall usability, especially if upgrading from an older model.
Compared to the competition we think the Mi Band 7 is a strong contender. It has more visible features on the watch the Fitbit Charge 5. It beats Garmin on price and has robust health and fitness features to compete with most top smartwatch brands. It’s definitely not an Apple Watch replacement, nor can it compete with high-end Garmin devices. Overall we find it a great everyday watch for daily tasks.
