Fitbit Charge 5 or Fitbit Luxe: What’s the difference? The Charge 5 is $30 more expensive, but is it really worth it? Is there a significant difference between the two?
The Fitbit Charge 5 is the company’s newest fitness tracker and “most sophisticated” to date. Although the Fitbit Luxe, a little older model, may not have as many features as the Fitbit Charge 5, it more than makes up for it in terms of quality and perhaps even longevity.
The brand has been producing wristband trackers since 2013, with the most recent model out in July of this year (2021). The Fitbit Versa 3 – suitable for fitness enthusiasts – and the Fitbit Charge 4 – were also released just last year.
Despite this, when the Fitbit Luxe was first launched in April 2021, it emphasized, even more, the integration of fitness technologies with an elegant build quality versus the other more dated wearables of the time. Several new features and advanced features come with the upcoming Fitbit Charge 5. Which, FYI, is available for pre-order now and we estimate release later this month. The issue is if the Fitbit Luxe is still worth considering despite a few flaws.
While the Charge 5’s price difference is substantial, its numerous improvements over the Charge 4 certainly justify it.
Based on the Fitbit specifications alone, the Charge 5 has many capabilities that the Fitbit Luxe model lacks. A built-in GPS, electrodermal activity (EDA), electrocardiogram (ECG), and even Near Field Communication (NFC) sensors are among the features.
The Fitbit Charge 5’s battery life is also longer at 7 days. Compared to the Luxe’s 5-day run time.

According to reports, both versions include a vivid, colorful AMOLED display, oxygen saturation or SpO2 monitoring, vibration capabilities, optic heart rate sensors, stress management, Bluetooth, sleep tracking, and even fitness applications. It also has a 50-meter water resistance rating.
The Fitbit Charge 5 is priced at $180, while the Fitbit Luxe is priced at $150. However, the Charge 5’s many advantages over its predecessor justify the significant price difference. Other fitness trackers, such as Apple, Fitbit, Garmin, and others, will be available in 2021.
Is the Fitbit Charge 5 a better fitness tracker than the Fitbit Luxe?
The new Fitbit Charge may be a better choice for individuals seeking a more “complete health and fitness tracker.” This is particularly true considering its plethoras of additional capabilities, such as NFC for easy wireless payments, GPS for geolocation, and potentially life-saving ECG and EDA sensors.
Of course, it doesn’t rule out the Luxe as a viable option. Since its stainless steel structure is not only more attractive but also more robust than the Charge 5’s aluminum shell. The Luxe is noticeably more visually appealing, with smooth curves and a thinner bezel that contrasts sharply with the Fitbit Charge 5’s tough and athletic appearance. The Fitbit Luxe is also worth considering if you want more stylish wear without requiring additional health tracking capabilities. A new Fitbit function allows users to measure their snoring and better manage their sleep.
If consumers want a stylish wearable and aren’t bothered about having fewer health monitoring features, then the Luxe is definitely worth considering; otherwise, the Charge 5 offers everything consumers need.
