If you’re a Fitbit fan, you are not going to want to miss this. The Fitbit Luxe has arrived, and it’s sleek, smart and affordable.
Images leaked last week show the latest Fitbit looking similar to the Inspire range. Fitbit has now made the news official, announcing the Luxe available for pre-order from the 19th of April 2021.
If you are thinking about upgrading your current Fitbit or buying your first, here’s everything we know so far.
Fitbit Luxe Design
As we said above, the design is similar to the Inspire, released in 2020; however, it has a slightly narrower display. The upgrade from polymer to stainless steel certainly gives the Fitbit Luxe a premium feel. This device has a full-colour AMOLED screen, making the display bright and clear. Furthermore, the display is auto-adjusting brightness dependent on your environment. The slimline design (36.30mm l x 17.62mm w x 10.05mm h) ensures the tracker is comfortable to wear all day and night.
Fitbit trackers have traditionally taken a somewhat functional design, but the Fitbit Luxe moves away from this. Adding a special edition, soft gold-coloured link bracelet from jeweller Gorjana. Standard editions are:
- Lunar White / Soft Gold Stainless Steel
- Black / Graphite Stainless Steel
- Orchid / Platinum Stainless Steel
Other band options include:
- woven fabric bands – approx $34.95
- leather bands – approx $49.95
- stainless steel mesh bands – approx $79.95
- stainless steel link bracelets (also from Gorjana) – approx $99.95
Fitbit Luxe Health and Fitness Features
As always with Fitbit, fitness is where these devices excel. The Fitbit Luxe has over 20 built-in workouts with Fitbit SmartTrack. So, if you forget to set the start of your training manually, the Luxe will pick this up for you. Furthermore, you can move from the gym to the pool without worry as the Fitbit Luxe is water-resistant to 50m. However, if swimming data is essential to you, the Luxe will not be ideal as the only data tracked is how long you have been swimming. Other basic fitness tracking includes steps, distance and calories burned. The Fitbit Luxe will track your heart rate 24/7. |However, new sensors include SpO2 blood oxygen monitoring and skin temperature monitoring. Ladies can also use the Fitbit app to log their menstrual cycle, record symptoms and track ovulation.
Fitbit Luxe Sleep and Wellness Features
More and more frequently, we are seeing sleep and wellness features becoming an integral part of our wearable devices. The Fitbit Luxe is no different. Let’s start with stress management. The Fitbit Luxe will track physical signs of stress and gives a stress score from 1-100. You can then use the guided breathing and mindful minutes features to help relax and bring your score back to an appropriate level.
The sleep tracking works similarly, giving you a score based on the physical data recorded. Furthermore, it provides an insight into your sleep stages, measuring how much light, deep and REM sleep you get. The sensors assisting with this sleep data include a breathing rate sensor and nightly heart rate variability (HRV). You can then use the in-app Health Metrics dashboard to see if your body shows potential signs of stress, illness or burnout.
Fitbit Luxe Smart Features
Unfortunately, the Luxe does lack smart features. There are a few, such as:
- receiving call, text and smartphone notifications
- Google Fast Pair
- timer and stopwatch
- silent alarm
- sleep mode and do not disturb
However, if smart features are as important to you as fitness, this isn’t the device for you.
Inside the Fitbit Luxe
Many users will be disappointed with the lack of onboard GPS, meaning you will need to take your smartphone with you when working out. It’s compatible with Android OS (8.0 or higher) and Apple iOS (13.3 or higher) and includes Bluetooth® LE connectivity.
The battery life is expected to be around 5 days (depending on usage), with a full charge (from completely drained to 100%) taking approximately 2 hours. In terms of memory, the Fitbit Luxe will store 7 days of detailed, minute-by-minute motion data and saves daily totals for the previous 30 days.

However, if you are a dedicated fitness fanatic that needs high levels of data or you want a fitness tracker that includes smart features as well, then you may want to consider some of the other options available from Fitbit or alternatives such as:
