When were these watches released?

When looking for a new smartwatch, you don’t want to invest in a model that’s about to be replaced. Here’s a quick rundown of the release dates of these two watches and how new they are.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

The latest installment in the Galaxy Watch series is the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. This modern smartwatch offers Samsung fans a minimal watch with a round face, setting it apart from the many square smartwatches. This watch was released on August 26th in the United States and the UK, and it was then released on September 10th in Australia. The Galaxy Watch 4 is available for $279.99.

Garmin Venu 2

Fans of the brand anticipated the second model of the Garmin Venu for months. This sports smartwatch was released earlier in the year on April 22nd, and it’s been a strong contender on the watch market ever since. This watch sells for approximately $349.99.

    Display Features

A key feature to compare when looking at smartwatches is the quality of the watch display. With technology improving every year, smartwatches offer better displays than ever now.

The Galaxy Watch 4 features an impressive super AMOLED display with 396×396 resolution. Samsung has a lot of experience when it comes to creating great displays, making their smartwatches popular choices for high-resolution, “Always-on” displays. The display also features 330 PPI, a touch bezel, and screen protection too.

The Garmin Venu 2 display also features an AMOLED display, improved from their first Venu model. The display is 326 PPI, slightly lower than the Galaxy Watch 4. However, don’t let this put you off! The display also features an “Always-on” display, screen protection, and 360×360 resolution.

    Designs

Alongside the exciting watch features, smartwatches offer modern designs that keep users coming back for new models. Both watches feature a sleek circular design, but what else do they offer design-wise?

The Galaxy Watch 4 is created from stainless steel with an aluminum casing and a silicone strap. The strap comes in one 20mm size. However, this can be adjusted for all users. The watch is available in silver, black, pink, gold, and green, but these colorways differ depending on the size of the watch you purchase.

Similarly, the Venu 2 is also created from stainless steel. However, this watch also includes a reinforced polymer and a silicone band. The Venu 2 band is available in two sizes, too – 18mm and 22mm. This watch comes in more colors than the Galaxy Watch 4, giving gold, blue, and slate options too.

    Fitness & Health

Key reasons many invest in a smartwatch is for the impressive fitness trackers and health features. The Garmin Venu 2 and Galaxy Watch 4 offer similar health and fitness services, including built-in GPS, heart rate trackers, sleep trackers, stress trackers, steps, calories, menstrual cycle trackers, sports modes, and more.

The Galaxy Watch 4 offers extra health and fitness features like ECG sensors and bioelectrical impedance analysis. Though the Venu 2 doesn’t provide these features, it also comes with personal activity intelligence and health snapshots too.

Samsung offers more health metrics and is one of the FDA-approved ECG watches. Though this makes the Galaxy Watch 4 look better for sports, the Venu 2 trackers are reported to be more accurate.

    Smartwatch Features

There are key smartwatch features that are always important to compare when looking at different watches. These include communications, timers, and general features that improve everyday life for the users.

The Galaxy Watch 4 gives users a complete smartwatch experience, including LTE connectivity, third-party apps, music streaming, and contactless card payments. When it comes to the smartwatch market, the only other brand that rivals the Galaxy Watch is the Apple Watch.

If you’re looking for the full range of smartwatch features, the Garmin Venu 2 might not be the watch for you. It does offer contactless payments with Garmin Pay, and users can stream music from Deezer, Spotify, and Amazon Music, but you can’t access any third-party apps. The Venu 2 does offer third-party watch faces, but this feature is better on the Galaxy Watch 4 as you can get creative and customize your faces with a unique tool.

    Battery Life

Charging time and battery life is essential to look at when selecting a new watch. While users experience this differently as GPS and trackers can deplete the battery faster, it’s always important to use a watch that can hold a lot of charges.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 offers a battery life of up to 3 days, whereas the Venu 2 has 10 days. Many reports suggest that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 can sometimes only hold a charge for one day if all apps are in use, whereas the Venu 2 can hold a charge for 10 days but uses fewer features.

    Key differences

Here are the most important differences to remember when choosing between these watches!

    • Sports and fitness tracking is clear on the Venu 2 and GPS services are more accurate.
    • The Galaxy Watch 4 has a better display with a UI interface and navigation too.
    • The Venu 2 has better battery performance and charge.
    • ECG readings and a BIM sensor are available in the Galaxy Watch 4.

    Conclusion

The Galaxy Watch 4 vs Garmin Venu 2 both offer a range of high-tech features and premium services. However, there are some key differences between both watches. From better charge to more smartwatch features, hopefully, this article has helped you decide which watch suits you best!
