Do you remember the leaked Meta smartwatch images?
Last October, supposed images of a Meta smartwatch caused a splash in the wearable community. But, Meta has dashed these dreams. Recent reports from Bloomberg suggest that this potential wearable is scrapped.
Is Meta working on any additional wearables? And what features was the Meta smartwatch set to have? Keep reading to find out everything you need to know about this rumored smartwatch.

What Is The Meta Watch?
Leaked in October 2021, the Meta Watch is a debut smartwatch from the Meta company – the parent company of Facebook.
Though this smartwatch has reportedly been scrapped, we’ll take a look at the features Meta had lined up for their debut wearable.
Reports suggested the ‘Meta Watch’ would have a square-yet-round design, placing it as an Apple Watch competitor with a similar shape. This sleek display showed this smartwatch is optimized for everyday life and sports, proving it’s a smartwatch – not a fitness band.
Dual Camera Features
But it’s not the shape of the display that sent the Meta Watch viral.
Leaks also suggested that this debut wearable would come with dual cameras – a feature that would place it above crucial market competitors. Prototype images suggest that one camera would be placed against the user’s wrist, and another would be situated under the display.
A camera placed against the wrist – what’s the point of that? Designed for photos, users can remove the strap to take photos. An easy and quick way to snap on-the-go photos!
Other potential Meta features include:
- Wi-Fi
- Built-in Spotify
- GPS
- Activity tracking
- Messaging

No More Meta Wearables?
If the leaked Meta Watch is a no-go, is that an end to wearables from the company?
The dual-camera Meta smartwatch is off the shelves for now. However, sources report that Meta is still working on other wrist devices. We’ll have to wait a little longer for news on these upcoming devices, though.
Maybe the Meta Watch, code-named Milan, will resurface in the future. The original release was set for Spring 2023, which isn’t that far away. Perhaps it’ll pop up in fall 2023 and surprise smartwatch fans. The price for this smartwatch could be $350, aligning the watch with premium models.
Final Thoughts
It’s a shame to see this smartwatch disappear. Though we’d only been treated to rumors and leaked images, the concept of a new smartwatch rival is exciting. Plus, never seen dual-camera features would place this wearable above other models.
But, who knows? Maybe we will see this smartwatch in the next few years. We’ll be waiting patiently! Curious about the Meta smartwatch? Let us know in the comments.
