Oura and Gucci – a smart ring collab

By Maygen. Updated: Jun 9, 2022

Breaking news! Oura and Gucci have launched a new smart ring. Wearables with intelligence built-in are getting smaller and smarter. Now, the Oura Smart Ring is equipped with sensors that track heart rate, temperature, and respiration rate. It appears to be a standard ring. It’s impossible to go wrong with it. For the first time, the product has a high-end version that has just been released.

Price

A collaboration between Oura and Gucci resulted in this limited-edition form of the Oura Ring, which is painted black and encrusted with 18-carat gold and retails for $950 (roughly AU$1,300) in the United States and £820 in the United Kingdom.

When compared to the regular Oura Ring Generation 3’s near-circle with one flattish side, this is roughly three times the size of the standard Oura Ring. It also has a strikingly different appearance.

The Gucci x Oura Ring is a new ring design that “provides all of Oura’s research-grade technology, personalized help, and insights” in a wonderfully constructed ring with Gucci’s distinctive flair.

The Oura 3 has a sleek, modern design that houses all of its features, including seven temperature sensors that continuously monitor biometric data and sophisticated sleep monitoring capabilities.

Wearing a blinged-up version of the $299 fitness tracker band adds no additional smart features or functionality; it’s just a more costly version of the blinged-up fitness tracker ring.

Design

The two 18-carat gold chains that wrap this Oura Ring are known as braided torchon; the other Oura Rings are unmarked. It’s stunning, whatever it is.

Like the others in the Oura Ring series, this ring is made of titanium (except for the gold parts) and weighs only 4 grams.

The Gucci mark is set around the ring multiple times in black with one gold interlocking G. The interlocking G pattern on the charging puck is a major deviation from the typical ring. The USB-C port is even emblazoned with the logo.

Finally, if you need any more reminders, Gucci’s logo is prominently displayed in gold on the puck’s inscriptions in the center.

Inside

The ring’s inner workings are identical to those of other models. In other words, the same gear and software are being used. Heart rate is measured using the arteries in the finger, which some claim is more accurate than the wrist.

The Oura’s four-gram weight is important for sleep tracking since, unlike a watch, it is almost invisible while sleeping. And the information it provides is comprehensive and straightforward, so you’ll know exactly what to do the next day when you wake up.

Ratings for sleep, activity, and readiness are offered, as well as tailored guidance.

The Gucci x Oura Ring is based on the black Generation 3 smart ring and features 18-carat gold trim and Gucci’s signature interlocking Gs logo stamped in gold. The last dollar amount on the product’s price tag is $650.

Warning! An Oura membership needed

At the very least, that exorbitant price tag includes a subscription to Oura, which grants you access to the entire suite of health monitoring tools available through Oura. All Oura Rings come with a free subscription for the first six months; after that, you must pay a monthly membership price of $6.99. Similar to Fitbit Premium.

Even while the Gucci X Oura Ring subscription is a one-time payment, you’ll be saving money if you retain your ring for a decade or longer. You’ll save even more money if Oura confirms this.

It had to happen at some point. This was accomplished by turning the tracker concept into a small, precious metal-lined pebble that could be attached to various jewelry-inspired bracelet bands. It’s time for Gucci to get in on the fun, too.

Even if it’s incredibly fantastic, Oura’s ring was already on the pricier side for fitness trackers. Furthermore, if these limited editions sell out rapidly, we may see more health tech cooperation in the future.

Do you think the Gucci Oura ring is a good investment?

So, you might be wondering, why would you pay up to $650 more for Gucci branding than the market price? The truth is that this is a far better value than it appears.

Why? Because the Generation 3 Ring comes with a $6 monthly fee. You’ll only get the most basic metrics without it, and new capabilities are added to the subscription service on a regular basis.

The Gucci version, on the other hand, comes with a free lifetime membership to the service. Even if you save $72 each year compared to paying monthly, if you stay with it for five years, you’ll save $360, which is a big savings. Even without the $6 monthly membership charge, keeping it for a decade will save you $720, making the Gucci Ring less expensive than the regular Ring.

A well-made, long-lasting product like this may last a decade or more. In addition to that, it looks fantastic.
