If you’re considering the size of your next smartwatch, then you’ve probably decided on the brand. Watch sizing may not be the first thing you think when shopping for smartwatches or fitness trackers. But once you know what brand fits your lifestyle and budget, size and fit are key factors to consider.
If you’ve decided on Samsung as your next or first smartwatch, there are things you should know before you buy. This includes how the watch fits, how its size affects its appearance, and its functionality. Our Samsung Galaxy Watch size guide has all the info you need.
The case sizes on the Watch 4 don’t necessarily determine the screen sizes, resolutions, or overall fit. Between the Watch 4 and the Watch 4 Classic and the Bluetooth vs. LTE versions, Samsung offers four different case sizes. Below are some things to consider before choosing the right size of Galaxy Watch 4.
Ranking the Models: Largest to Smallest Case Size
- Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Bluetooth (40mm)
- Galaxy Watch 4 LTE (40mm)
- Galaxy Watch 4 Classic Bluetooth (42mm)
- Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic LTE (42mm)
- Galaxy Watch 4 LTE (44mm)
- Galaxy Watch 4 Bluetooth (44mm)
- Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic LTE (46mm)
- Galaxy Watch 4 Classic Bluetooth (46mm)
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Bands
The smartwatches from Samsung are all designed with functionality in mind, and fit various wrist sizes and shapes. The bands are adjustable, and give you a fun way to customize your watch’s color and overall look.
While they’re interchangeable, the Watch 4 Series requires a 20-mm band. You can purchase these at checkout or later down the road after growing tired of your current watch style.
Largest screen in the Watch 4 series…
… and the best resolution, too.
The honor goes to the Watch 4 44-mm model. And not only does it have the largest screen, but it also has Samsung’s best watch screen resolution at 450×451 pixels.
The bright, large, and clear display screen is a considerable benefit to avid hikers and campers or athletes who need to see stats in a challenging environment. Pick up this smartwatch with either LTE connectivity, so you can connect to cellular networks or Bluetooth connectivity for connecting to your phone.
It’s worth noting that all Watch 4 models in the Samsung series offer Circular Super AMOLED screens with Always on display mode.

Watch case sizes: What’s the difference?
Typically, smartwatch users prefer a larger case is for the protection it provides. The added protection of a large watch case can come in handy for particular professions or outdoor enthusiasts who know their watch will get knocked around. Keep in mind, too, those larger cases usually come with a heavier watch.
Those with smaller wrists may prefer the 40-mm or 42-mm Watch 4 models based on how a larger watch may look. The edging on those smaller Samsung watch models is relatively thin, so your watch face fills the entire screen.
The largest overall
The Watch 4 Classic 46-mm is all case, and the screen is only a bit smaller than the Watch 4 44-mm, at 1.3. Its resolution is less great, though, at 360×360 pixels. Less active people may prefer the sleeker design of the Watch 4 44-mm or 40-mm, and the Classic’s larger design gives it a timeless look.
It is the heaviest overall, weighing in at 2.2 ounces. Compare that weight with their smallest Watch 4, the 40-mm case, which is one-third the weight.
The smallest overall
Set your sights on Samsung’s 40-mm for a lightweight design, at only 26 grams — that’s less than an ounce.
The smaller Watch 4 is a great exercise companion for basic exercise, but the thin case makes it more fragile than the Classic. The screen on the Watch 4 is still over an inch in size, with a resolution of slightly under 400 pixels. So even though these smartwatches are light and sleek, they’re still powerful little tools for your wrists.
