The Oppo Watch Free is on its way to the UK

The Oppo Watch Free is the cheapest wearable yet in the Oppo family and has been available in China only since 2021. However, it is on its way to the UK and will be available from the 24th March for approximately £89. While pricing for the US is unknown, it is likely to be on sale for less than $120.

Oppo Watch Free design

Unlike the original Oppo Watch and Oppo Watch 2, the Free is a slim rectangular shape and looks like a cross between a smartwatch and a fitness tracker.

This budget device will be available in colors black and vanilla and has a silicone strap, giving it a sporty feel. It hosts a 1.64-inch, 280×456 resolution AMOLED display, and it can be customized with 40 different watch faces to choose from.

Health and fitness features

With a 5ATM water rating, the Oppo Watch Free is safe for swimming and showering. Furthermore, it boasts 100 different workout modes, including HIIT and running programs. Surprisingly, for a budget device, it also offers automatic workout-tracking for activities such as running, walking, hiking, and indoor rowing.

Unfortunately, though, there has been no mention of GPS, so the accuracy of tracking outdoors will be affected. However, it does offer a 6-axis motion sensor, optical heart rate monitor, and SpO2 sensor to track blood oxygen levels continuously.

Of course, it also offers the standard step counting and sleep tracking that we have come to expect from our wearable devices.

Smartwatch features

Oppo Watch Free features

From the design, they certainly give the impression that they were creating a fitness tracker rather than a smartwatch. However, there are a few smart features available. These include receiving notifications, compatible with both Android and iOS, a find my phone feature, music playback controls, and the ability to reject calls. The Oppo Watch Free in China also offers NFC; however, this is not expected to be available in the UK or US.

Oppo Watch Free Battery Life

The battery life is where this device really shines. It has a 230mAh battery that will provide up to a whopping 14-days battery life. Furthermore, a 5-minute quick charge feature will give you one day’s use.

As always, battery life is dependent on usage; however, with no GPS on offer, it is unlikely there are too many features that will use power quickly.

Conclusion

Oppo Watch Free

The Oppo Watch Free doesn’t offer any new or exciting features compared to similar designs. However, if you are just getting started with fitness tracking and want a basic device at a reasonable price, the Oppo Watch Free could be just what you are looking for.
