Samsung Watch Active 3

By Emma Morris. Updated: Feb 3, 2022

Many people have been waiting for the Samsung Watch Active 3 for well over a year now. And while Samsung doesn’t promise to put a new device out every twelve months, we have come to expect it with big name brands like Apple. So when can we expect this new device? We took a look at all the latest news and gossip to try and get a clearer idea of what to expect and decide whether the device is actually worth waiting for or not.

is the samsung watch active 3 coming soon?

What Will the New Watch Active Be Called?

One of the most interesting points to note is that when the Galaxy Watch 3 was released, the Samsung Watch Active 3 wasn’t. Consequently, the company has been working hard to generate sales from this device. However, rather than now expecting a Watch Active 3, there is a thought that the new device will be released alongside the Galaxy Watch 4 and be called the Watch active 4 instead. Either way, the expected release date for this new watch is imminent.

How Much Will the New Samsung Watch Active 3 Cost?

When it comes to pricing, we expect this new device to come at a mid-range price. Making it accessible for the widest audience. Samsung has recently cut its prices across a range of models. And so, we are pretty convinced that the newest Watch Active will come in at the same price point as the Watch Active 2 did.

Some of the Most Believable Leaks

When it comes to leaks, there are always ones that sound crazy and ones that sound credible. We have shared some of the most plausible options below. So that you can look forward to what the newest watch may offer:

Design Overhaul

One of the most common rumors is that the Samsung Watch Active 3 (or 4) will look totally different from the Watch Active 2. This is because consumers are more concerned with keeping up with design trends and the older model is no longer in vogue. However, we are not yet certain what it will look like instead. Although we are sure, it will be round rather than square.

New Color Options

The current model comes in black, silver, and gold and is made in both aluminum and stainless steel. The leaks suggest that the new model will come in a wider range of color options. This is to target a wider audience and promote individuality.

Increased Storage Levels

The Active Watch 2 comes with 4GB of internal storage. The consensus is that the new version will at least double this amount, heading upwards of 8GB. This is because there are more features that require memory and to help with the efficient running of the device.

New Features

Offering new features is the way to impress hesitant buyers. And the latest leak suggests that the Watch Active 3 will come with a glucometer. This is designed to measure and record your blood sugar levels. It’s a health feature that many people are keen to have on their wrist and will encourage a whole new audience to invest.

New Operating System

Interestingly, many of the leaks and rumors suggest that the latest Watch Active3 will use Wear OS to run. However, this has not been confirmed or denied by the company, leaving us wondering if it will happen or not.

What We Are Keen to See from the Samsung Watch Active 3

When it comes to new devices, we always have a specific wishlist that we would like to see come true, and the Watch Active 3 is no different. Below are our key wishes, but as of yet, there is no confirmation that they will happen:

  • Improved Heart Health – most smart devices now offer ECG as standard. So, we are keen to see this as an option on the new Watch Active3. Interestingly, the current Active 2 has the capability to offer ECG. However, this has never been activated, leaving us keen to see a promise from the company that the new watch will have it from the get-go.
  • Improved App Options – the apps on offer in the current Active 2 are not as extensive as we hoped. Many consumers were left feeling let down by the operating system. If the watch does move to Wear OS, then this issue will be easily resolved. But if it doesn’t, then there is pressure on Tizen to up its game!
  • Accuracy for Tracking – considering the fitness features on offer with the Watch Active 2, we are hopeful that the Watch Active 3 will offer the same, if not more. However, for it to be really useful, there needs to be a marked improvement in the accuracy of the device. We need to be able to trust the data when it comes to reviewing our performance.
  • Improved Battery Life – yes, it may be a cliché, but we want a better battery. Firstly because technology has moved forwards and so the capability should be there. And secondly, because consumers are tired of having to constantly plug in their devices.

Choosing Whether to Buy the New Galaxy Watch Active3 or Not

While there is still no confirmation on whether we can expect an announcement soon or not, it is worth considering whether you will want to get the new Galaxy Watch Active 3 or choose a different option altogether.

If you are a fitness fan who wants a rugged and accurate watch, then the reality is that this new device won’t offer you everything you want. However, if you are keen to get an affordable device that comes with a number of options and provides lifestyle support, then it may be worth hanging in there for a release date.
