A 2022 Samsung Watches Review and Comparison

By Maygen. Updated: Feb 3, 2022

If you’ve been pondering which of the Samsung watches is perfect for you, the conclusion is easy. We can save you a few minutes of reading and tell you now that the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 wins. They even offer a classic version which comes at a slightly higher price but is worth it to many.

This edition of the Samsung Galaxy watch has improved a few key features including major health upgrades both from a workout standpoint to your overall well-being. But that’s not all there are many more upgrades including the design.

Samsung is a global leading smartwatch manufacturer. Compared to the Apple Watch 6, Fitbit Sense, and Garmin Fenix 6, the brand does exceptionally well.

Samsung sprung into smartwatches in 2013. Consequently, the square and (by 2022’s standards) Samsung Galaxy Gear was a poor first try. Essentially, it was severely inadequate. Since then, the business has grown exponentially. Over the past six years, we’ve seen several versions of its wristwear, and the firm has subsequently relaunched its Galaxy wearables.

What’s next?

Even though the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 was released just last August, many are already looking forward to the potential Samsung Galaxy Watch5 and what improvements can be made. Based on previous models speculation concurs that the release date will be announced soon and will also likely be in summer to compete with the next line of Apple watches.

Whatever transpires, Samsung watches are compatible with both Android and iPhone smartphones, and they often have long battery life in addition to a variety of high-end functions.

Continue reading as we examine the best Samsung watches currently available.  When compiling this list, we considered what each watch could offer and its design, pricing, and other factors.

Samsung Galaxy Watch4

The Samsung Galaxy Watch4 saw some amazing improvements. The best way to look at the watch is to compare it to its predecessor the three to see what’s changed and been upgraded. While the classic version differs slightly it still holds the major upgrades from the non-classic.

Both the Classic and the regular Galaxy Watch4 have a new design that features no gap between the smartwatch to the straps. While the Galaxy Watch4 sits right on top of your wrist with silicone straps attached, the classic is a little more sophisticated with leather straps.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Call and Text

The most notable difference between the Samsung Galaxy Watch3 and Watch4 is the software itself. You can still use Samsung Pay but instead of Samsung’s software, not the watch sports Google’s software and apps.

But one of the most important questions that always come to potential customers’ minds is what the battery life is like. Being frank there is no huge difference between the models as they both should last almost two days with one charge but in reality, if you are a busy user this is closer to a day.

Samsung Galaxy Watch3

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 took its sweet time being released, but it was worth waiting for since it outperforms the first version in many areas.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 is sleeker, lighter, and has a better design. But it’s also an outstanding exercise partner, with various workout formats, most of which are automatically triggered. Plus, there’s GPS, water-resistance, sleep and stress tracking, a heart rate monitor, VO2 Max readings, and fall detection.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 also has blood pressure monitoring and an electrocardiogram, but neither is available in most countries at the time of launch.

The Watch 3 also features a bright, clear, circular screen that is simple to see in all lighting conditions and navigates easily due to the rotating bezel.

Despite its many advantages, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 isn’t without faults. For example, it’s pricey. And, as with most smartwatches, the battery life could stand to be improved. However, it is an excellent wearable and a serious competitor to the Apple Watch 6.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2

The Galaxy Watch Active 2 was launched only 6 months after the first version. And it adds a few features that were lacking from the first Galaxy Watch Active.

Samsung’s Active series of gadgets are intended to be smaller than the Galaxy Watch, making them more suitable for people looking for a fitness device. What makes it slimmer? The bezel seen on the Galaxy Watch has been removed.

Instead, the firm has incorporated a digital rotating bezel that can rotate to browse through the various functions. Although it lacks the tactile feel of a bezel, users find the functionality to be acceptable.

If you’re looking for a more athletic smartwatch, you’ll enjoy this one since it’s comfy to wear when exercising. It has a heart rate monitor and will automatically track certain exercises. Plus, there’s GPS and onboard storage, so you can add songs to your device and listen to them using Bluetooth headphones. However, you can use  Spotify via Tizen instead by using the app too.

It has a 1.2-inch 360 x 360-pixel resolution display, which on paper may seem tiny, but it’s large enough to engage with, and applications look excellent on it.

The Active 2 is inexpensive in comparison to other leading smartwatches. Despite its price increasing slightly. The Galaxy Watch Active 2 is a fantastic option if you’re looking for a compact watch that can be used for exercising and daily use.

    Samsung Gear S3

The premier Galaxy Watch was (and continues to be) a fine Samsung smartwatch.

Available in two versions. If you’re searching for the biggest watch, the 46mm version with a brilliant 1.3-inch display is the way to go. And then there is the 42mm version, which is smaller (but fatter).

Both include a rotating bezel that you may use to move around the menus and functions. Some prefer having more texture and physical buttons to navigate the operating system and functions of the watch.

Samsung Pay, a service that enables you to make contactless payments from your watch, is included in both versions and GPS for monitoring your position.

On the plus side, it’s water-resistant so that you can monitor your swimming, and the fitness features are excellent, especially given that this is a high-end watch. The larger variant has a battery life of approximately four days between charges.

    Samsung Galaxy Watch Active

This gadget is quite similar to the above, mostly because it was only released 6 months before the Galaxy Watch Active 2.

The original Galaxy Watch Active is still available, but it doesn’t have a cellular connection option (though it will connect to wifi). Also lacking is the digital rotating bezel featured on the latest version above.

Saying that, it’s worth considering the Active 2 since you can get it for cheaper now that Samsung has released a newer model. Plus, you can still enjoy most of the same great Samsung Galaxy Watch apps.

It still has a long battery life and fitness capabilities identical to the above. So if you can locate it for a lower price, you may want to go for the original Watch Active.

      Samsung Gear Sport

At a glance, the Samsung Gear Sport and the Galaxy Watch aren’t especially different from one another. But a comparison of the two watches reveals significant variances.

Samsung addressed a lot of the Gear Sport issues, but given how cheap it is, you may just be able to live with it.

Much of what you’ll find on the current version is here, along with the newest Tizen software, so you’ll have all of the applications found on devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Watch.

The watch has a big screen that is simple to manage. Whenever you’re jogging, the watch can monitor your position, and you can transfer music to it so you can listen via Bluetooth headphones. There’s a lot to like here, so don’t dismiss it.

If we have to mention the one major flaw, it’s how the aesthetic isn’t as polished as it could be. Though saying that, it’s a nice-looking watch if you want a decent Samsung wearable without spending a lot.
