Amazfit Bip 2

By Emma Morris. Updated: Dec 22, 2021

Xiaomi is world-renowned for making budget-friendly devices that perform well. Their initial Amazfit Bip was well received by consumers. We have all the information you need about the Amazfit Bip 2. So you can learn more about it before deciding whether to invest or not. Read on to find out more.

What Type of Design Does the Amazfit Bip 2 Offer?

The new Amazfit Bip 2 looks very similar to its predecessor and also very like an Apple Watch! It has a square design, is slim on the wrist, and comes with a single crown on the side for navigation. The watch comes in a number of color options, and the body is made from a mix of zirconia and polycarbonate. Furthermore, a silicone wrist strap makes it comfy to wear all day long.

The watch is waterproof up to 50 meters deep, allowing you to take it swimming whenever the mood takes you! The display on offer comes in full color. However, the screen is not as crisp and clear as you may have expected, leading to some slight disappointment.

What Are the Amazfit Bip 2 Key Features?

One of the main reasons people upgrade their watch is to get hold of new features that they have previously been unable to enjoy. The Amazfit Bip 2 comes with some upgrades that are sure to impress. Firstly, the new waterproof capabilities mean that you can now swim with the watch and track your swimming through fitness tracking.

The Amazfit Bip 2 also comes with GPS and GLONASS and has a heart rate sensor. Other navigational tools include maps and a compass. Contactless payments are possible for anyone who uses this product in China. But, we are hopeful that this capability will be offered worldwide eventually.

When it comes to smart features to keep you connected, you can get calls and message alerts directly to your wrist. You can also read your messages on your wrist, but you cannot reply or take calls directly from the watch. There are other notifications options for you to choose too, including social media alerts, calendar reminders, and more. If you love to listen to music, you can even use your watch to pause and fast forward through your playlist to save you getting your phone out every time.

How Good is the Amazfit Bip 2 for Fitness Fans?

If you want something that can help you track your exercise, then the new Amazfit Bip 2 has some potential. However, it will not provide the in-depth options you can get from brands like Fitbit or Apple. However, it is worth remembering that the device comes with GPS and ABC features that will help you get accurate but basic tracking data whenever you are out and about.

From tracking your run or other exercises to counting your steps, this device offers the most basic level of activity support. It comes with a companion app that you can use to check your efforts and progress over time. This means that if you are looking for an activity companion, you are probably better off choosing something different. However, if you just want basic activity compatibility and a general data overview, the Amazfit Bip 2 may be a great choice.

How Good is the Battery?

The new Amazfit Bip 2 comes with an all-new charger and charging dock. Giving better connection and better charging capability when it comes to battery. A full charge will take around an hour to perform. Making it easy to schedule charging time into your daily activities.

The battery in the device is made from lithium polymer and can be kept on standby for 40 days before being charged again. When it comes to battery usage, you can expect to get around 12 hours of GPS usage from a full charge and up to five days of smartwatch mode to get you through the week. However, the battery usage will be dependent on the number of features you make use of and how often you use them. Meaning that you may be able to extend the battery life between charges or need to charge more frequently to meet your needs.

What Are the Main Pros and Cons?

Every device comes with pros and cons that need to be considered before purchasing. Take a look at the main ones for the Amazfit Bip 2 now:

Pros
  • Waterproof up to 50m
  • It can offer contactless payments in some countries
  • Well designed and looks like an Apple Watch
  • It offers a good standby battery life
  • Simple to charge
  • Very affordable
  • It looks great on any wrist size
  • You can control your music from your wrist
Cons
  • It does not have an operating system of its own
  • The screen resolution is not as good as we hoped
  • You cannot take calls on the watch
  • You cannot reply to messages on the watch

Should I Buy the Amazfit Bip 2?

Choosing whether or not to buy the Amazfit Bip 2 seems to be pretty simple. It is an upgraded and impressive device, especially when you consider that it is very budget-friendly. However, if you are used to using more expensive smartwatches or want something that can offer contactless payments in any country, then you may want to reconsider your purchase.

All in all, we are impressed with how much you get for your money. And would recommend it to anyone looking for an entry-level smartwatch.

If you’re looking for something a little more advanced, take a look at the Apple Watch 6 or Fitbit Versa 3. Also there are some newer models from Amazfit and the Bip Lite is a good option too.
